Working from home or remote working has become a much more common phenomenon over the past couple of years. Here at IPV, we understand that it is a very different experience to being in the office, and it can be harder to stay motivated and focused on your goals. Here are some of our tips which we hope will help you in becoming more productive outside of the office.
Here are our 4 Tips on working from home
1. Have a designated workspace or area that you use just for work
If you can, try and have a room or area in your home and turning that into your dedicated workspace, instead of somewhere where you spend your free time like your living room or bedroom. As well as this It’s a good idea to remove any potential distractions like your phone or home computer, as it’s only too easy to lose track of time this way.
2. Make sure you use your breaks to the fullest
When you’re working from home, you might prefer to stay in as where you live might not be as in as central a location as your workplace.
However this can lead to feeling claustrophobic and fed up. Going out and getting some fresh air or just doing exercises in your home is great for helping to boost your spirits and putting you in a better frame of mind.
3. Keep to a set routine
Make sure that you keep to a set routine when working from home. It can be easy to fall into the habit of waking up later than normal as you feel it won’t take too long to get ready. This can lead to feeling tired all day, or starting work later and generally being less productive.
4. Dress like you would at the office
This might seem strange as keeping the same dress code you would do when coming into the office does seem pointless as no-one will know, but how you dress can be symbolic in how you feel. Wearing smart or formal clothes will help you get into a productive mindset better than wearing pajamas! It can also help to dress differently when working to how you dress in your free time to help you separate between your work and personal life.
